Saturday 27th June – Sun Yat Sen Museum

Today, we went to HKCC to play cricket. Coach Luke is our cricket teacher, and there are about 9 children in our group. The focus this week was bowling the ball mostly, then we played a game (with a soft ball). Unlike last week there were no sprinklers to cool us down 3/4s of the way through the lesson. 😥

In the afternoon, we went to the Dr Sun Yat Sen Museum. There were lots and lots of cool exhibits there, and it was very fun. It was all about Dr Sun’s life. he was born in the middle of the 19th century in China. He came from a farming family who were very poor. Sometimes, they didn’t even have shoes! He came to Hong Kong to study medicine. He found that people were successful with their ideas because of influences from the West. This made him think that the Qing Government weren’t treating their people well! So, he started to try and overthrow the Qing Government. Then he went to London where he got kidnapped by Chinese diplomats, and ended up becoming the first president of China. It was in a building called Kom Tong Hall. It was built in 1914 on Castle Rd in Sai Ying Pun. They used bricks, which isn’t very common in HK these days!

We saw the Mural on Shing Wong Street, then hopped on to the 26 to Causeway Bay where we got a new food processor (the old one broke) and then got the 11 home.
